does hex here means six letters or 16?

Hex doesn't specifically refer to a number of letters, but you could say it has something to do with 6. (Of course, hex being the numerical prefix for 6.)

Unfortunately, you really need some sort of editing software to get far in this game. Why can't you download it? I can try troubleshooting via PM.

The "source" is basically the coding behind every HTML page. It can very easily be accessed, and the page title provides explicit instructions.

You can PM me and tell me what you've figured out so far.
